Nintendo 64 was the member of the 5th generation of consoles. Some of the greatest games in history had been released for it like Super Mario 64, Legend Of Zelda and Star fox 64. As you all know Nintendo 64 games can be played on emulators on moder PC. 1964 and Project 64 are examples. Roms are available for download if you know where to look although i think my 10 year old brother can find them in a couple of seconds. Anyway back to topic, Nintendo 64 games are still great but some gamers can not tolerate the old graphics. Well I have got a remedy for that. Some great texture artists have made the emulators use different textures for games. Texture packs have been released for many games. Ranging from Mario 64 to Spider man. Below i will demonstrate some of them and how to properly play those games from scratch.
Steps
- First go to Project 64 website and download the emulators.
- Then go to some ROM sites and pickup some popular games like Mario 64 And Banjo kazzoie.
- next install the emulators and place the downloaded roms into one folder for your convinence
- Download Rice’s Video Plugin and install it
- Download a Texture Pack and unzip it to C:\Program Files\Project64 1.6\Plugin\hires_texture\
- Run Project647 Goto Options->Settings->Plugins and pick "Rice’s Video Plugin"
- Goto Options->Graphics Plugin and uncheck “Hide advanced options”
- Goto Options->Graphics Plugin->Texture Enhancement and check “Load hi-res textures if available”
- Open the rom and the textures will load
